Products are sold under the Ehrmann brand in over 70 countries around the world. With over 2,400 employees, Ehrmann SE generated over 750 million euros in 2021.
Ehrmann SE is one of the largest milk processing companies in Germany and is also represented internationally with various production plants and sales branches.
For all its national and international activities, Ehrmann is, and remains, an independent and diversified family business and stands for quality, naturalness and tradition across all production and business areas.

100 Years of History
In 1920, the dairy master Alois Ehrmann (Senior) founded a dairy as a one-man operation and leased another one five years later. The foundation stone was laid for the expansion course that continues to this day. In 1960, Alois Ehrmann (Senior) hands over the management of the company to his two sons, Anton and Alois (Junior), and makes them equal partners. In 2006, Christian Ehrmann takes over the management of the family dairy in its third generation as the new CEO.

1920
Alois Ehrmann (Sr.) starts his first dairy as a one-man operation.
1929
Alois Ehrmann (Sr.) acquires the place of business in Oberschönegg in the Allgäu region of Germany that is still the head office of the family-owned dairy Ehrmann today.
1960
Alois Ehrmann (Sr.) turns over management of the company to his two sons, Anton and Alois (Jr.), making them equal partners. Alois Ehrmann (Jr.) is given responsibility for the Allgäu dairy, while Anton Ehrmann takes over product sales and marketing and the development of national distribution in Leonberg near Stuttgart
1964
Almighurt, the first fruit yoghurt in Germany with cold-stirred fruit is introduced.
1989
Ehrmann acquires the Fleischwerke Zimmermann GmbH & Co. KG meat processing plant, one of the best-known businesses in the German meat and sausage industry.
1992
Ehrmann purchases the Hainichen-Freiberg dairy, one of the most advanced production facilities for yoghurt and dessert specialities in Germany. The site serves as a competence centre for dessert products; the Ehrmann Innovation Centre with the Group’s own technical centre is installed.
1998
Ehrmann acquires a majority stake in the traditional company J. M. Gabler Saliter in Obergünzburg. Since 1713, the name Saliter has been synonymous with outstanding Allgäu dairy products, especially in the coffee cream and condensed milk segments.
2000
Ehrmann starts its international expansion and officially opens the OOO Ehrmann production facilities in Raos near Moscow. Ehrmann rapidly advances to become number two on the Russian market.
2006
Christian Ehrmann takes over the third-generation management of the family dairy as Chairman of the Executive Board of Ehrmann SE. His father, Alois Ehrmann (Jr.), moves to the Board of Directors, like his brother, Anton, three years before him.
2010
The departments Marketing, Sales, Export, Development and Production are consolidated at the Oberschönegg facility in the Allgäu, creating additional synergies through short channels and even closer co-operation between all departments.
2011
Together with local partner, Commonwealth Dairy, Ehrmann SE builds a dairy in the state of Vermont on the east coast of the USA. After around one year of construction, the production facility in Brattleboro is officially dedicated in March 2011.
2012
Ehrmann acquires the traditional brand of “Obstgarten“ (translated: Fruit Garden) and takes over the merchandising of the products in Germany, thereby allowing the family dairy to significantly expand its range of quark products.
2013
In October 2013 we started up our second dairy in the USA, called Arizona Dairy LLC,. While Brattleboro serves the North-East of the USA, the second dairy is focused on the American West Coast.
2014
Germany’s most favored fruit yoghurt has its 50th anniversary.
2018
Ehrmann SE concludes a joint venture with Trevo Lacteos S.A. and thus expands its international presence.
2019
Ehrmann sells its US activities in July 2019.
2020
The Ehrmann family dairy celebrates its 100th anniversary. We proudly look back and look forward at the same time to the next 100 years of indulgence.
